Immunodeficient mice were injected into the tip of the spleen with 1.5 × 106 cells of the CRC cell clones described in Figure 2A and development of tumors at the site of injection (in the spleen) and metastasis in the liver were determined after 6 weeks. The spleens and livers were excised and photographed and quantitative analysis of metastasis formation is described in Supplementary Figure 1.
