During the survey cycles between 1999 and 2008, data were not publicly available on participants aged 18 to 19 years and are subsequently not included in the analysis.
MSM-ever indicates participants reported at least 1 lifetime male sexual partner (during the cycles between 1999 and 2008) or reported ever having any kind of sex with a man (during the cycles between 2009 and 2014).
Participants who reported never having sex met the criteria for neither MSM-ever nor non-MSM and were excluded.
Participants who had missing data on ever having sex met criteria for neither MSM-ever nor non-MSM and were excluded.
Participants who responded “yes” to ever having sex and had missing data on number of male sex partners (1999–2008), or ever having sex with a man (2009–2014) met the criteria for neither MSM-ever nor non-MSM and were excluded.
