The blue line is the line of best fit from the multivariable regression model (adjusted for sex, age at assessment, education, adult socioeconomic position, and presence of neurologic or major psychiatric conditions), and the navy lines are its 95% confidence intervals. Z scores for childhood cognitive ability were based on the full National Survey of Health and Development cohort (n = 5,362).
