    Precedes onset of infectious disease (although include cross-sectional studies where directionality is unclear)

    Exclude ‘extreme’ stressors

    Level of psychosocial factor (e.g. stress level), or no psychosocial factor (e.g. no childhood abuse)

    Biomarkers of immunity

    Restrict to studies relating to infectious disease
