Experiment setup and post-processing pipeline. (a) shows a photograph of the experimental setup used for mechanical loading during the MRI scan (b) Continuous data acquisition is performed during the rest, simulated static standing load phase and the recovery phase. Following CS reconstruction, the image time series are corrected for bulk motion, and registered. An optical flow algorithm is then used to calculate motion deformation maps. From these, the Lagrangian strain is calculated for each phase (rest through recovery).
