Figure 2

The effect of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) air pollution averaged over 3 days on 30-day cardiac readmission and death within 30-days by index admission for cardiovascular patients in Utah’s Medicare population 1999–2009. Results of Fine and Gray regression. All results jointly estimate the risk of readmission or mortality while adjusting for the competing risk of readmission from a non-cardiac related cause. Results show Bonferroni corrected 98.75% CI’s (alpha = 0.0125). All models adjust for zip code level median-household income, Charlson Comorbidity Index, dual enrollment status, and daily temperature.
