Figure 5.

Band artifacts caused by bilateral hip implants in a 59-year-old patient suffering from prostate cancer. The dark and bright band artifacts that can be observed in WFBP and MARIS CT images have almost disappeared using the iMAR-hip algorithm, leading to an improved diagnostic image quality in the pelvis. Despite the improved PET quantification, there is no obvious visual difference between the different PET reconstructions. WFBP: weighted filtered back projection; MARIS: metal artifact reduction in image space; iMAR: iterative metal artifact reduction.
