Overall, males exhibited a transcriptome characterized by greater glycolytic and corresponding TCA transcriptome which was augmented in APOE4 males. In contrast, females exhibited a transcriptome characterized by expression of genes required for beta oxidation of lipids with a concomitant rise in subunits required for electron transport chain complex II.
