Participants	Islamic Republic of Iran Inclusion criteria: Age 40 to 70 years No previous history ischaemic stroke Diagnosis of stroke confirmed by imaging Within 2 to 7 days of stroke onset Exclusion criteria: Not available during study period History of side effect of fluoxetine and other antipsychotic drugs Pregnant or breast feeding; Depression in the previous month and treatment with antipsychotic drugs Use of any MAOI in the last 5 months Aiming to recruit 60 participants
Interventions	Experimental: 20 milligram fluoxetine and ‎standard treatment (antiplatelets, anticoagulant and statin) Comparator: placebo and ‎standard treatment (antiplatelets, anticoagulant and statin)
Outcomes	Primary outcome collected at 1 and 2 months Change to side effect of stroke (NIHSS questionnaire)
