Schematic representation of the approach used for the identification and validation of medulloblastoma associated microsatellites. The approach used in this work is divided into 3 stages: computational identification of informative microsatellite loci using the training set, validation of the microsatellite markers in an independent validation cohort, and finally downstream analysis of the genes associated with those microsatellites. The first stage includes a filter to eliminate microsatellites that vary with age, ethnicity, and sequencing technology.
