Figure 6.

Figure 6 comprises a Western blotting for H1F 1 alpha (120 kilo Dalton), GLUT 1 (55 kilo Dalton), EPO (21 kilo Dalton), VEGF A (17 kilo Dalton), and beta actin (43 kilo Dalton), as well as a bar graph with standard deviation plotting relative protein expression per beta actin (y-axis) across treatment with 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 of methylmercury (milligrams per kilogram) (x-axis).

Protein expression of HIF-1α and downstream effectors following MeHg administration in in vivo rat models. Adult Sprague-Dawley rats were administered with MeHg (0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10mg/kg) by intraperitoneal injection for 0.5h. Whole brain lysates were analyzed by Western blotting for the indicated proteins. Note: Data are presented as mean±SD (n=6  rats/group). con, control (intraperitoneal injection of saline); EPO, erythropoietin; GLUT-1, glucose transporter 1; HIF-1α, Hypoxia-inducible factor-1α; MeHg, methylmercury; VEGF-A, vascular endothelial growth factor A. *p<0.05 vs. control group by one-way ANOVA with Dunnett’s post hoc test.
