Scheme for the transformation of marine purple photosynthetic bacteria. Chemically competent cells were prepared by the CaCl₂ method. Plasmid DNA (pBBR1MCS‐2) was mixed with competent cells in the presence or absence of CPP ((BP100)₂K₈). After incubation on ice for 30 min, competent cells were treated with or without heat shock.
