Simvastatin treatment changes the cell morphology and mitochondrial structure, increases the intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) level and aggravates the cytotoxic effect of Aβ25–35 in SHSY5Y cells. After treated with 10 μM simvastatin for 24 h and 20 μM Aβ25–35 for 4 h, the morphology of SHSY5Y cells were observed by a light microscope (A), the mitochondrial structures were observed by an electron microscope (B), the intracellular ROS level was measured by DCFH (C), viability of the cells was examined by Cell Counting Kit 8 (CCK8) assay (D).
