Photomicrographs of quail duodenum, ileum and caecum showed morphological differences between PBS and Lactobacillus treatment groups. Villi length was severely retarded, especially in the PBS treated bird ileum and caecum. Caecal mucosae had reduced thickness in the PBS treated birds.
