It was shown in this study, that CNP exerts a selective cytotoxicity in A375 melanoma cells, accompanied by indices of mitochondrial dysfunction, i.e. loss of mitochondrial membrane potential, a reduced number of cristae and a decreasing amount of total ATP. The selective toxicity was abrogated by the enzyme catalase.
