Kaplan-Meier curves of modified pathological N category with tumor deposits. (A) In the SEER cohort, survival analysis of the modified pN category revealed four main survival trends: (I) N1 and N1c exerted similar effects on OS, although the prognosis of N1c was slightly poorer than that of pN1 (including N1a and N1c patients) (P<0.001); (II) N1TD and N2 exerted similar effects on OS (P=0.16); (III) N0 exhibited the longest OS times; and (IV) N2TD exhibited the poorest OS times. (B) The above results were validated in the FUSCC cohort: (I) there were no significant differences in the prognostic impact of N1 and N1c (P=0.15). (II) N1TD and N2 exerted similar effects on OS (P=0.23). (III) N0 exhibited the longest OS times; and (IV) N2TD exhibited the poorest OS times.
