In particular, sgn(λ2)ρ(r) < 0 characterizes covalent bonds or strongly attractive NCIs (e.g. H-bonds); sgn(λ2)ρ(r) ∼ 0 indicates weak attractive interactions (van der Waals); sgn(λ2)ρ(r) > 0 repulsive NCIs (e.g. steric clashes).
