Structures of sugammadex, or octasodium 6A,6B,6C,6D,6E,6F,6G,6H- -octakis-S-(2-carboxyethyl)-6A,6B,6C,6D,6E,6F,6G,6-octathio-γ-CD. Hydrogen atoms are omitted for clarity. The sodium cations are highlighted as purple spheres and the functional groups of the substituents are highlighted as red spheres for the oxygens in the carboxyl groups and yellow spheres for the sulphur atoms of the thioether bonds; the remaining structure is represented as sticks, with the red color for oxygen atoms and grey for carbons.
