Experimental set-up. A schematic representation of the experimental set-up is provided. Roots of five weeks old tomato (Solanum lycopersicum, cv. Moneymaker) plants were exposed to hypoxia for 6 h or 48 h. N₂ gas was applied to induce hypoxia in a hydroponic system. RNA was extracted from the roots of control and hypoxia treated plants for RNA-Seq analysis.
