6-Ketocholestanol, 6α-hydroxycholestanol, and 6β-hydroxycholestanol, oxidized in the 6-carbon of B-ring, suppress human FASN gene promoter activities. After transfection, HepG2 cells were treated with ethanol (the vehicle control), 7 μM 7α-OH, 7 μM 7β-OH, 7 μM 6α-OH, 7 μM 6β-OH, or 7 μM 6-Keto for 24 h.
