Figure 2

Western blot analyses of tomato leaf stress-related protein profiles upon treatment with the pharmaceutical cocktail at 100 ppb. Roots of tomato seedlings were bathing in tap water (−) and in a cocktail of Carbamazepine, Valporic acid, Phenytoin, Diazepam, and Lamotrigine, at concentration of 100 ppb (+). Total proteins were extracted from leaves harvested after 1, 2, 4, 8 and 24 h. Each set of samples was subjected to electrophoresis in five identical gels. Each gel was blotted and reacted with a different stress-specific protein antibody raised against chaperones (HSP70, HSP90, HSP100), the member of the MAPK family P38, and of the GABA-shunt enzyme glutamate decarboxylase 1 (GAD1). The photographs show the relevant region of the gel.
