Figure 5

Western blot analyses of tomato leaf stress-related protein profiles upon treatment with 200 nM Carbamazepine (CBZ) for up to 24 h. Roots of tomato seedlings were bathing in tap water (−) and in CBZ (+). Total proteins were extracted from leaves harvested after 1, 2, 4, 8 and 24 h (roots bathing in tap water for 24 h served as control). Each set of samples was subjected to electrophoresis in five identical gels. Each gel was blotted and reacted with a different stress-related protein antibody raised against chaperones (HSP70, HSP90), the member of the MAPK family phosphorylated P38 (P38Ph), and of the GABA-shunt enzymes glutamate decarboxylases 1 and 2 (GAD1 and GAD2). The photographs show the relevant region of the gel.
