Participants | 20 participants with penetrating colon injuries found at laparotomy; must include one of: >25% circumference injury, shock on arrival, hemorrhage >1500ml, at least three associated organ injuries, fecal contamination, colon resection required; excluded patients that died within 24 hours of injury, patients presenting more than 8 hours after injury, patients operated on at other hospitals, patients not deemed admissible by the surgeon. | |
