EN—EN are several small black strings that enfold the fluid marked with L (the lens), resembling many small tendons, by which L sometimes becomes more vaulted, sometimes flatter, according to whether one is looking at objects close by or far away. OO are six or seven muscles attached to the eye around the optic nerve Z (Descartes 1642).
