Embryos, with and without injection ofTHRβ mRNA at the 1–2 cell stage, were exposed to 0 (control), 1, 10, 50 or 100 nM 6-OH-BDE-47 from 4 to 26 hpf. TUNEL-positive, brown colored cells (i.e., apoptotic cells) in the brain increased in a concentration-dependent manner in 6-OH-BDE-47 exposed embryos (A–E). This effect was rescued by overexpression ofTHRβ mRNA (F–J). Mean ± SEM of discrete TUNEL positive reactions of 10 embryos in three replicates (n = 3) per treatment group are shown in histogram (K).
