Therapeutic effects of responsive DBS. A: The average number of tics detected during active responsive DBS (therapy on) was significantly lower than the number of detections after the daily therapy limit was reached (therapy off). This suggests that responsive delivery of DBS suppresses tics. B: There was also a statistically significant difference between the number of detections during the workday when comparing working hours and off hours. Similarly, there was a significant difference between working hours and rest days. These results are consistent with the patient’s self-report of having stress-related tics at work.
