Sholl analysis of parietal layer V and VI pyramidal neurons and hippocampal CA1 neurons. Sholl analysis was performed to evaluate the amount and distribution of the dendritic arbor following bTBI. (a) In parietal cortex, there was a significant reduction in the number of dendritic intersections per shell in bTBI mice (n = 6, 54 total neurons analyzed) when compared to sham controls (n = 4, 36 total neurons analyzed) (p = 0.0002). (b) The same pattern was observed in the hippocampus, with a significant reduction in the number of dendritic intersections per shell in bTBI mice (n = 6, 54 total neurons analyzed) compared to sham controls (n = 4, 36 total neurons analyzed) (p < 0.0001).
