The Pb transition associated with the optical absorption of light at 405.79 nm involved the excited states 6p2 ³P₀ and 6p7s ³P₁. According to the diagram, the 6p2 ³P₀ level of Pb atoms can be achieved upon a double photodissociation process of PbCl₂ molecules using laser pulses at 355 nm and 266 nm wavelengths.
