(A) Markers: unirradiated nDNA of S. pombe (line 1) and S. cerevisiae (line 2). Lines 3-13 show the Mb-sized compression zone of fragmented DNA, which decreases with time after irradiation. (B) IOD manifests fragmented nuclear DNA due to DSB. Maximum IOD indicating the immediate formation of DSB is observed immediately after irradiation followed by decrease with post-irradiation time due to DSB repair. Almost all DSB are repaired by 5 h post-irradiation.
