Protein and general cellular stress GFP-reporter activation in response to CdTe QDs of various sizes and CdCl2. ToxTracker reporter activation in live cells was measured as GFP-fluorescence using flow cytometry. The Ddit3-GFP and Btg2-GFP indicate unfolded protein response or p53-associated cellular stress, respectively. The results are presented as mean ± standard error of the mean of three or four independent experiments (n = 3–4).
