Flowchart of study analysis. First, clinical characteristics and medical procedures of all neurological referrals to the IED during 2017 were analyzed and compared for urgent and non-urgent cases according to the final diagnosis. In a second step, an informal triage in 299 of these patients was performed according to our internal guidelines as either acute or non-acute. This was compared with a classification according to the ESI.
