Suggested mechanism of IsdH mediated heme extraction. The structure of HpSP–αβHb–IsdHN2-N3 possibly represents a novel conformational state of IsdHN2-N3 after Hb binding (initial binding) but prior to Hb unfolding and heme transfer.
