Narciclasine reduced the systemic levels of inflammatory cytokines in neonatal septic rats. The neonatal rats were subjected to E. coli induced sepsis (n = 6 per group) in the presence or absence of narciclasine (NC, 0.1, 1 and 3 mg/kg) which was administered 1 hour after sepsis induction. Plasma was separated from blood collected at 12 hours after sepsis induction. (ae) The levels of cytokines IL-2, IL-4, IL-1α, TNF-α and IL-10 in plasma were determined by cytometric bead array (fh) The levels of cytokines IL-6, IFN-γ and IL-1β in plasma were determined by ELISA. Data were expressed as means ± SEM and compared using ANOVA. ###P < 0.001, compared with sham/control group; *P < 0.05, **P < 0.01, ***P < 0.001, compared with untreated sepsis group.
