Narciclasine prevented liver damage in neonatal septic rats. The neonatal rats were subjected to E. coli sepsis and narciclasine (NC, 0.1, 1 and 3 mg/kg) was administered 1 hour after sepsis induction. Plasma and Livers were collected 12 hours after sepsis induction. (a) The liver histological changes in the presence or absence of narciclasine (NC, 0.1, 1, 3 mg/kg) after H&E staining. The original amplification was x200. (b) The levels of AST and (c) ALT in the plasma were determined using an automated biochemical analyser. (dg) The levels of cytokines TNF-α, IL-6, IFN-γ and IL-1β in liver homogenates were determined by ELISA. Data were expressed as mean ± SEM and compared using ANOVA. ###P < 0.001, compared with sham/control group; *P < 0.05, **P < 0.01, ***P < 0.001, compared with untreated sepsis group.
