Participants |
Women 18‐45 years age with large for gestational age or suspected macrosomic babies 38 to 40 + 3 weeks' gestation with singleton pregnancy, cephalic presentation with estimated fetal weight 3800 to 4500 g. Women with diabetes, major fetal malformation or previous caesarean birth excluded. Proposed sample: 474 women. |
Interventions |
Induction of labour versus expectant management (up to 40 weeks + 6 days). |
Outcomes |
Shoulder dystocia, brachial plexus injuries, fracture, intraventricular haemorrhage, cephalhematoma, caesarean section. |
