CO inhibits CBS mediated production of cystathionine and H2S, downregulating Nrf2. Downregulation of Nrf2, in turn, attenuates expression of GCL, GS and G6PD, antioxidant genes downstream involved in GSH biosynthesis/regeneration of GSH from GSSG.
