Trial name or title IMSI versus ICSI in patients with severe male factor infertility and repeated ICSI failure
Methods Randomised controlled trial, performed in an academic setting (Egypt)
Participants Elegibility criteria: primary or secondary infertility, aged 18 to 37 years old, having good ovarian reserve (AMH > 1.5, AFC > 5, and basal FSH < 10 mIu/L), and at least one previously failed ICSI
 Male partner with severe oligospermia (sperm concentration < 5 x 106/mL) and severe teratospermia (normal form < 4%)
Interventions Couples were randomised in two groups:
Intervention: sperm selection performed at 10,000x magnification with a Nomarski‐contrast Nikson inverted microscope
Control: sperm selection under regular (200x) magnification
Outcomes Number of embryos, fertilisation rate, embryo grading, implantation rate, and pregnancy rate.
