Encapsulating cells in 3-D GelMA hydrogels. (a) Live cells are transferred into GelMA solution. (b) 130 µL of cell-laden GelMA solution is pipetted into a mold and (c) covered with a glass coverslip. (d) GelMA is polymerized into a solid hydrogel under UV exposure. The hydrogel, containing live cells, is then removed from the mold shown in (e) and (f).
