Figure S1.

Comparison of pronuclear membrane hole sizes <0.04 µm2. (A) Analysis of hole sizes <0.04 µm2 in peripheral pronuclear membranes of an embryo in prophase (P; embryo P1) and prometaphase (PM; embryo PM2) and two embryos in metaphase (M1 and M2). The data are a subset of the data shown in Fig. 1 F. n = 213, 153, 42, and 33 for P1, PM2, M1, and M2, respectively. Error bars show SD. Statistical analyses was done using a Kruskal-Wallis test with multiple comparisons. The P values for the nonsignificant pairs were >0.9999. (B) Analysis of hole sizes <0.04 µm2 in the interface pronuclear membranes of prometaphase and metaphase embryos. The data are a subset of the data shown in Figs. 2 C and 3 D. All the values for a particular stage (i.e., prometaphase or metaphase) were combined. Statistical analysis was done using two-tailed Mann-Whitney test. The nonsignificant P value = 0.2175. (C) Analysis of hole sizes <0.04 µm2 in the interface pronuclear membranes of two metaphase embryos, M1 and M2. The data are a subset of the data shown in Fig. 3 D. Statistical analysis was done using two-tailed Mann-Whitney test. The nonsignificant P value = 0.4922.
