Two representative asymmetric units of the mature ZIKV virion (PDB 6CO8) are shown as ribbon structures (DI, red; DII, yellow; DIII, blue; transmembrane domain, white). The icosahedral symmetry axes are indicated by a purple oval (twofold), triangle (threefold), and pentagon (fivefold). Red spheres mark residue R/K^204(DENV1)/K^209(ZIKV), and magenta spheres mark residue E³⁹³. The distance between the C_α of two residues are measured using PyMOL software. E³⁹³ is ∼60 Å away from residue R/K^204(DENV1) on the E monomer, and the closest distance of E³⁹³ to R/K^204(DENV1) from adjacent E monomer is ∼30 Å.
