The cellular productions of IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, MMP-3, MMP-9 were increased while the TIMP-1 was decreased upon IL-1β stimulation. However, the TIMP-2 was not influenced in stimulated-chondrocytes. Baicalein application decreased TNF-α, MMP-3, MMP-9, TIMP-2 protein levels and further increased IL-10 in IL-1β-stimulated chondrocytes. However, the synthases of IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8 and TIMP-1 were not changed.
