Variation of labeling index with respect to strain amplitude. Linear regression analysis predicted the relationship to follow: Labeling Index = 1.03 + 0.44 × Percent Strain Amplitude (R² = 0.963, P < 0.0001). Lenses were cultured for 24 hours under varying static strain amplitudes and exposed to a one-hour EdU pulse before LECs were isolated and analyzed using flow cytometry. The labeling index increased proportionally with strain amplitude, suggesting a strong relationship between lens stretching and LEC proliferation.
