Methods Random allocation using sealed opaque envelopes. Double blind.
Participants Age 15 or above with severe closed brain injury. 
 Five exclusions; three not head injury, one 14 years old, one imminent death.
Interventions
  1. Betamethasone 100mg IV on admission, then 80mg/day IV for 7 days, then tapering off over further 7 days.

  2. Placebo.

Outcomes Glasgow Outcome Scale at 6 or 12 months.
