Trigger point (TrP) injection technique. After its identification, the TrP is ‘blocked’ between the two fingers: note the simultaneous finger pressure on the muscle and the gentle stretch of the skin. If correctly performed, this technique allows for accurate injection of local anaesthetic or botulinum toxin into the TrP. When the needle reaches the TrP, an involuntary twitch or ‘jump sign’ is observed.
