Participants Diagnosis: schizophrenia (RDC). 
 History: duration ill ‐ range 0‐12 yrs, informed consent given.

 Setting: 4 weeks in hospital, community thereafter, multicentre.
Interventions 1. Haloperidol decanoate: dose mean 122mg/injection, monthly. N=25.
