Methods randomised placebo controlled trial

Participants 32 male Israeli heroin addicts after detoxification abstinent for at least 10 days; mean age:32 years; 72% marries, 84 did not complete the secondary education, 50% involved in criminal activity
Interventions behavioral and supportive psychotherapy plus naltrexone (16) vs. behavioral and supportive psychotherapy plus placebo (16) 
 50 mg/week for the first two weeks at the visit to the clinic; 50 mg at the visit to the clinic plus two more tablets to take at home during the weekend (total 150 mg/week) for the following weeks 
 Outpatients setting 
 study duration: 12 weeks
