Exosomes as nano-delivery vehicles for PD treatment. It is proposed that exosomes can be used as nano-delivery vehicles for therapeutic drugs, proteins, siRNAs, shRNAs, and miRNAs. Exosomes are obtained from natural human cells or artificially synthesized, and then modified with therapeutic components in vitro, and finally re-injected into circulation. Exosomes can cross the BBB and reach the targeted cells to release their functional cargoes for therapeutic purposes (Aryani and Denecke, 2016).
