Normalized room-temperature absorption spectra of GFP S65T R96M, T203Y, and R96M T203Y at pH 8.0, 8.0, and 10.0, respectively. The observed peak maximum of 494 nm for the anionic state closely matches the predicted value of 492 nm, assuming the driving force is additive.
