Eligibility criteria: presence and duration of sore throat, odynophagia, respiratory distress, fatigue and fever. A bacterial throat culture, monotest and Epstein‐Barr virus were performed to reach final diagnosis of infectious mononucleosis‐induced acute sore throat |

Intervention: one dose of dexamethasone oral 0.3 mg/kg
