Table 1:

Collected study information

  1. Was determining the change in size, if any, between initial (DWI) and follow-up (T2 or CT) scans a primary goal of the study?

  2. Did the study provide sufficient data to determine if any cases of regression occurred?

  3. Did the study provide sufficient data to determine exactly what proportion of patients showed regression?

  4. Were thrombolytic agents used in any or all patients?

  5. Did the study attempt to correlate whether a patient received thrombolysis (intervention) with growth/regression of DWI lesions?

  6. Did the study make an attempt to assess reperfusion (eg, by imaging of vessel patency or by perfusion imaging)? If yes, did the study attempt to correlate reperfusion with growth or regression of DWI lesions?

  7. Did the study collect clinical performance data (ie, NIHSS, BI, mRS, etc) ?

  8. Did the study attempt to correlate the clinical performance data with DWI lesion volumes?

  9. Did the study attempt to assess the degree of collateral blood flow to the affected territory?

Note:—DWI indicates diffusion-weighted imaging; NIHSS, National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale; BI, Barthel Index; mRS, modified Rankin Scale.
